Annual Dog Day of August-POSTPONED

August 8, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am

dog event

Due to Covid-19, our 10th Annual Dog Day of August has been postponed until 2021. Watch this space for an Alternative Virtual Online Fundraising Event to Benefit the Colonial Beach Humane Society and Colonial Beach Rivah Dogs we are planning! Get a jump start by taking a video of your and your dog practicing one or more of our amateure events such as Best Trick, Best Costume, Frisbee or Ball Fetch, Water Retrieval, Agility Run, Stay & Recall, Best 6-Legs (Polite Leash Walking), Find-the-Bone.

And Save the Date for August 14, 2021. Our Annual Dog Day of August in Colonial Beach is held each year as a memorial to Sharon Smith, who founded the event in 2011 to benefit the Colonial Beach Humane Society. This laid-back, kid-friendly, fun filled morning for dogs and their people continues to benefit the Colonial Beach Humane Society and Colonial Beach Rivah Dogs. The Humane Society runs the Feral Cat TNR and Colony Program; and Rivah Dogs runs the Pet Waste Station and Dog Park Program.

Join us for fun, amateur games including tricks, stay & recall, mini-agility, find the bone, frisbee or tennis ball retrieval, water retrieval, and our famous pet parade with multiple awards including biggest, smallest, oldest, youngest, best 6 legs (polite leash walking), best costume, and more! This is the largest and longest running annual dog event in the Colonial Beach Area (Visit CBVA Colonial Beach Virginia). All dog-friendly and people-friendly dogs, and their people, are welcome. Spectators are welcome, too!
