Northern Virginia and DC are near plenty of beaches, state parks and other destinations for a day trip. That’s why we’ve rounded up a bucket list of locations for a summer day trip. So pack up the car, gather the kids and head out to one of these destinations.
Colonial Beach: This is one of the only remaining beach towns on the Potomac River. Along with activities like swimming, crabbing and more, Colonial Beach offers a rich history. George Washington’s birthplace is nearby, as well as Robert E. Lee’s childhood home. About 65 miles from DC.
