Everything You’ve Ever Wanted to Know About Squirrels

September 1, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Nearby Startford Hall is hosting an event!

Bring the family to observe and learn about squirrels during the next Landscape Series Event at Stratford Hall!

Squirrels are a welcome reminder that we share our forests, parks, and yards with wildlife every day. Join us in the historic duPont Library to learn and identify different species of squirrels in eastern Virginia. Understand how squirrels communicate using vocal and visual signals, and then put your knowledge to the test! Take a guided hike across Stratford Hall and experience the numerous squirrels who call the grounds home. During the hike, information gathered about the Stratford Hall of squirrels will be reported to “Project Squirrel,” a citizen science project. Take advantage of this special event in our 2018 Landscape Series to enrich your next encounter with squirrels during a nature hike, or in your own backyard!

Project Squirrel is a unique citizen science project that allows everyone across the United States to participate in looking at ecological interactions in the urban game park. Learning, observing, and reporting the actions of both urban and suburban squirrels allows Project Squirrel to understand the ecology of our neighborhoods through a squirrels’ eyes.
