Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday this year. Here in Colonial Beach, Virginia, you can celebrate the holiday for lovers all week long! Here’s how.

On Valentine’s Day, love will be the theme during The Tides Inn Market‘s weekly Thursday Trivia. The Market will also be serving up chocolate desserts and “aphrodisiac” food.

Dockside Restaurant and Tiki Bar will offer a special Valentine’s Day menu featuring a variety of oyster, lobster, scallop and halibut entrees and desserts such as chocolate cake and coconut bomb cake.

Blackened ahi tuna with mango chili sauce and sticky rice, red snapper Florentine, filet mignon tip shish kabobs, pan-seared filet with mushroom sherry sauce, chicken francaise, and s’mores brownie a la mode will be offered on Valentine’s Day at Riverboat on the Potomac.

Dine by candlelight at Wilkerson’s Seafood Restaurant during their special Valentine’s Day dinner, available February 14-17. Lobster, shrimp, oysters, imperial crab, all you can eat salad bar and seafood buffet on the menu!

The 3rd Annual Chocolate & Wine Tasting event to benefit the Colonial Beach Community Foundation will be held February 9. Eric Nelson, previous owner and chocolatier at Artfully Chocolate in D.C., MD and VA, demonstrates how chocolate & wine are paired to maximize the deliciousness.

For the Love of Running is a 5k fundraiser, hosted by Colonial Beach Brewing. The event will be held on February 16.

Get married! Every Friday, court-appointed marriage commissioner and wedding officiant Bryce Hall, founder of Get Hitched Virginia, performs “courthouse style” (2-10 minutes long, at reasonable rates) Civil Marriage Ceremonies at the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce, from 11 am-2 pm.

The Artists’ Alliance (AA) at Jarrett Thor Fine Arts will host an opening reception on Friday, February 8th, from 6-9 pm.The show will feature a collaborative, Valentine’s-themed exhibit and new art from all 22 member artists including painting, photography, encaustic, basketry, jewelry, and pottery. Carl and Joyce Thor, Jarrett Thor Fine Arts, continue to maintain studio space in the adjacent area and will display their original paintings and decorative minerals. Free.

Valentine Dinner & Dance, hosted by the American Legion Post 148, will be held Saturday, February 16. The American Legion Auxiliary Cancer Benefit is open to the public. Dinner, consisting of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and dessert, begins at 5 pm. Music by Hard To Tell Band will be from 7 pm to 11 pm.



On Valentine’s Day, River Edge Inn is offering a special rate of $69 plus tax.

Guests staying at the historic riverside Colonial Beach Plaza Bed and Breakfast on Valentine’s Day, or the following Friday or Saturday, receive a complimentary bottle of champagne and an exclusive discount on a three-course dinner at The Lighthouse Restaurant, a Thai and French restaurant located on the Monroe Bay waterfront.  Cozy fireplaces and soft music playing throughout the 1900’s Victorian will set the mood.

Romance Package


The Romance Package, available Friday, February 9, includes one night accommodation, 30 minute couple chair massages (15 min per person) from Licensed Massage Therapist Cecile Watts, and a half dozen roses in the room. HURRY! The last day to book is February 2.




BEer MINE Package


Available on Valentine’s Day itself, the BEer MINE Package is in effect February 12-15. A tour of Montross Brewery any day from 12-3 pm, with head brewer Matt, 2 flights, 32 oz. growler, and a half a dozen red roses in the room are included in the package.  Rates begin at $192 (before tax) and must be booked by February 11.
