Exciting weekend coming up as the 2018 Colonial Beach Triathlon Festival occurs Saturday & Sunday, July 14 & 15.
One of the longest running triathlons on the East Coast, the Pohanka Honda Colonial Beach Triathlon is easy to get to from Richmond, VA and Washington, DC. The race offers a Sprint on Saturday and an Olympic on Sunday. The swim starts out with an L shaped course in the Potomac River. The sprint bike course is mostly flat with 3 turns over 14 miles while the Olympic bike course is more challenging with a few rollers to ride over. Both bike courses have stunning seaside views and take athletes through beautiful sections of farmland and forest on well paved roads. Upon return to the beach, athletes embark on a flat, scenic out and back run course.
Though online registrations are now closed, race organizer Kinetic Multisports will be taking race site registrations for the Sprint on Friday from 5-7 pm and race morning (Saturday) from 5:30 – 6:20 am. Registration for the Olympic distance will be taken on Saturday afternoon from 5 – 7 pm and again race morning from 5:30 – 6:20 am. Forms available on their website here.

Dickie Wood has been performing with his band, The Atkinsons since 2003. Dickie’s music melds roots, country, and rock music into its own style of rambling swing rock & roll.
