Here are some events happening around Town of Colonial Beach this weekend!

High Tides on the Potomac kicks off the weekend with Happy Hour, Bike Nite and live music from reggae/blues artist Garrett Russell of Space Koi. Friday, Whiskey Bent performs and Saturday, Josh Barker of Australian rock band LONGREEF makes a special appearance at High Tides to jam with Soul Patch.

Trivia is on the menu at Tides Inn Market Thursday, from 6-8 pm. On Sunday, May 20, join Tides Inn chef Caitlin Davis for Edible Flowers & Spring Greens (Cooking Class) from 3-6 pm.

Grab some fresh fruits and vegetables at Colonial Beach Outfitters’ Farmers Market, 4-7 pm at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Then hop over to Colonial Beach Brewing Friday for the re-release their Beach Haze NEIPA and River Jazz, featuring Piano Man Dave Tucker, Banjo Beck and Tuba Joe! Bobby & Bart Acoustic performs at Dockside Tiki Bar Friday evening.

Relax with yoga Thursday at 6 pm at Colonial Beach Community Center or Saturday morning with Morning Beach Yoga, hosted by Christine Marie Markham, from 8-9 am. Create a jeweled, aromatherapy starfish ornament with Free Spirit Co Studio, from 1-3 pm.

18th Century history comes alive at two local historical sites: Spring on the Plantation at George Washington Birthplace National Monument. Learn what the first president’s life was like growing up sheep shearing, tobacco planting, blacksmithing and open hearth cooking. Guests to Stratford Hall can participate in the annual Traditional 18th-Century Trades Fair where blacksmithing, carpentry and other trades would have taken place. Archaeologists from the Fairfield Foundation will also be conducting archaeology demonstrations. Both events are Saturday, May 19.

Cheer on your favorite horse at Riverboat on the Potomac on Saturday during the 2018 Preakness. Also at Riverboat, you can support the Museum at Colonial Beach by attending the Fundraiser for the Museum on Sunday, May 20 in the Tiki Room, beginning at 11:30 am. While you’re there, you can create your own Stain Glass Crab–On Wheels under the guidance of Paint It Forward.

Chef Rocky Denson from award-winning local restaurant, Denson’s Grocery and R&B Oyster Bar, will prepare “Dinner in the Vines,” the second annual farm to table dinner at Ingleside Plantation Winery, on Saturday, May 19th.

CB Artists Guild Photography Show is open at Jarrett Thor Fine Arts Gallery from 11-5 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
